Welcome to the EAF

About the EAF

The EAF started in October 2008 as an initiative put forth by the Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics, Dr. Michele Wheatly, and the Vice President for Research, Dr. Jack Bantle, to further develop the research infrastructure on campus. The Environmental Analytical Facility's purpose is to provide chemical analytical services, training and support to WSU researchers; including faculty, research staff, and students. The centralization of analytical methods is intended to facilitate scholarly research by improving efficiency in sample analysis for funded research projects thereby providing more time for researchers to focus on other aspects of their research.

In keeping with the above purpose, the EAF fees for services are set to maintain the condition of the facility so that these services will be available to WSU researchers for years to come. Facility usage fees are based upon the cost of consumables, the cost of regular maintenance, and the cost of instrument replacement amortized over the expected lifetime of the equipment.

The EAF is currently staffed by two Senior Research Chemists, Mr. Garrett Van Ness and Mr. Joseph Solch.
