Dr. Man Xu joined the Higgins group in June 2009 as a postdoctoral research associate. Dr. Xu received her PhD in Environmental Science from Ohio State University under the direction of Prof. Heather C. Allen followed by a postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Prof. Kenneth Eisenthal at Columbia University. Dr. Xu is currently investigating carbonate dissolution kinetics under fluid conditions relevant to geologic CO2 sequestration. Check back on our website soon for updates on results from this exciting project.
Ms. Brittany Campbell and Mr. Dennis Lennaerts presented posters at the Fall 2008 American Geophysical Union (AGU) Meeting in San Francisco.


Ms. Campbell's poster was "An Automated Method of Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) Data Analysis and Reactive Site Tracking for Mineral-Water Interface Reactions Observed at the Nanometer Scale", reporting on work funded by the US Department of Energy. Mr. Lennaerts' poster was "The effect of supersaturation on the Ca and Sr composition in synthetic barite precipitated from seawater", reporting on work that was funded through seed money provided by Wright State University.

Ms. Sweta Bose recently received the ACS Graduate Research Poster Award for her poster on aqueous chromate interactions with barium sulfate surfaces which she presented at the Dayton ACS Local Section Annual Poster Session on March 2, 2007. (See photo below)
