RESEARCH INTERESTS Cellular Automata: Agent-based simulations of complex molecular phenomena; Molecular Structure-Property Relations: Statistical studies of relationships between molecular structure and properties; Applied quantum chemistry: Chemical, biological and toxicological applications. Molecular Spectroscopy: Luminescence, especially the luminescence of organic compounds on surfaces; color changes of dyes; energy transfer.
PUBLICATIONS Prof. Seybold is the author or coauthor of more than 100 scientific publications covering chemical applications of cellular automata, applied quantum chemistry, molecular structure-property relationships, molecular spectroscopy, and general science for the public. He is a member of the Editorial Advisory Boards of the journals Chemistry & Biodiversity, The Journal of Molecular Graphics and Modelling, and Current Computer-Aided Drug Design. For18 years he wrote the annual survey of developments in Chemistry for the Americana Annual, published yearly by the Encyclopedia Americana. He has recently published a book, Modeling Chemical Systems Using Cellular Automata (Springer, 2005) with L. B. Kier and C.-K. Cheng. Department of Chemistry |
